SUN & SHADE, MADE VISIBLE
Add the buildings, fences and trees around the spot you care about. Watch shadows move through the day, calculate direct-sun hours and compare seasons before you plant or rearrange your garden.
A clear-sky estimate for the model you draw. Clouds, terrain, leaf transparency and missing obstacles are not included.

A little planning. A brighter garden.
Choose a city as a starting point or enter your coordinates. Check the local time zone and date.
Add buildings, fences or solid tree crowns. Set their dimensions, move them in the 3D scene and place your observation point.
Move through the day, read direct-sun intervals and compare four dates. Save or export the assumptions with the result.

Compare two possible positions before rearranging your garden.
Change one height or position and see how the model responds.
Check dates across the year, including the lower winter sun.
Measure one exact spot on a clear day, record when direct sun reaches it, then use a simple shadow model to compare other dates. This guide shows both methods.
Read guideUse the same surroundings and date to compare candidate points without turning sunlight estimates into plant advice.
Read guideUnderstand how height, orientation and distance affect a simple obstacle before changing your garden layout.
Read guideNo. A city sets representative coordinates and a time zone. Enter your own coordinates and manually add the obstacles around your observation point. No buildings or trees are automatically detected.
No. Daylight in this tool means the sun’s centre is above a flat horizon. Direct sunlight additionally requires a clear ray from your point to the sun through your model. Clouds and diffuse light are not calculated.
Durations use 5-minute samples. Heights, positions, simplified shapes and the time zone affect the result. Very brief or grazing exposure may be missed. Compare with outdoor observations before making changes.
Calculations and explicit local saves stay in your browser. Downloaded files and shared links contain the location and model: share them deliberately. Device location, if requested, uses the browser and operating system’s location services.
